Keep in mind that the best source of scholarships for college tends to be the colleges themselves, rather than outside sources. For that reason, we help our students craft their college lists with careful consideration for where they might be most likely to receive generous merit aid–and our students are often quite successful at winning scholarships! Reach out to us to learn more.

Note that some colleges do not allow scholarship “stacking,” meaning that any awards you receive elsewhere must be reported to the college and will be subtracted from the award you receive from the college. (This is called scholarship or aid “displacement.”) For this reason, it’s wise to check the college’s policies.

If you do wish to apply for outside scholarships, the easiest ones to win are local scholarships, which your high school counselor may know about; these are sometimes listed on your school’s website or advertised in your local paper. Well known, nationally advertised scholarships may be larger, but are also much more competitive.

Fortunately, you don’t have to do the work to find scholarships with a specific focus on autism, disability or neurodiversity, since we’ve done the research for you!

If you will be applying for need-based financial aid–aid that depends on your family’s income and assets–you’ll need to fill out the FAFSA and, in some cases, the CSS Profile

Good luck!
